Having written two books on Netezza and being directly associated with the product's implementation since '06 - and directly interacting with their internal technologists and product engineers - you would be hard-pressed to make a case within the walls of Netezza or IBM that PostGres has any relevance to the engine whatsoever. Your observations are entirely circumstantial and superficial, and have no bearing whatsoever on the internals of the engine. Where Postgres intersects with and keeps up with ANSI SQL, does this mean that Netezza doing the same thing is keeping up with Postgres and not ANSI SQL? Methinks you draw imaginary lines.
